Been a busy month

So a lot has happened since last I wrote. For starters we bought a boat. It's nothing special but it's ours and that's what I like. We named it "Section 8" and it's a 24' pontoon boat. It's older but we are really enjoying it. I applied for a promotion to sergeant at the prison and am still waiting on the outcome of that. Aiden and Rowan are both growing like weeds and also enjoying the boat. Rachel got selected as Director of the year with her work, recognizing her for her outstanding job that she does. I should get an award for putting up with all the crap she brings home.

We leave for Florida in less than a week and plan on taking Aiden to Disney World. I can't wait to just sit on the beach and relax and not have to worry about anything for a while. There will be an update and pics upon our return.

A Little Update.

Rowan turned 1 on June 9. I can't believe he's already a year old. The party was a success and good times were had by all. Aiden and I had to show Chad and Dad up in a game of cornhole, yeah, my son's a natural.
Aiden is now playing blastball, which is another term for T-ball. I don't know why we have to change the name of everything, it's just gets confusing. My brother Chad and his wife Sheena are moving back to the area at the end of June. That only leaves one sister away from here and we are constantly working on her and trying to get her back...I don't see what's so great about PA anyways :P
Rowan got his 1 year photos taken here recently and they turned out amazing. Amy Poe is amazing and we are so glad we found her.

In Vino Veritas

So this last Thursday night, Rachel, my Dad, Fatina, Aunt Barb and myself racked around 175 bottles of wine. There was of course some sampling that had to take place, just to see if it tasted proper. It does, just in case you were wondering. Spring break was great and a much needed pause that I've needed for quite sometime. I didn't get caught up on anything that I should have dealing with school though. Needless to say I'm going to be doing tons of homework tonight and throughout the week to put myself back on course.

Rowan has started walking. He's not blazing all over the house yet, but I figure it's only a matter of weeks until I'm chasing him all over the place. He took his first steps while Rachel and the boys were out of town in Bloomington, IL visiting some of Rachel's family. Rachel was kind enough to catch the act on video and send it to me.

Rachel and I are trying to decide what to do to the house next. We are definitely painting it this summer, but besides that we are both pleading a case for what we want to do next. Either way there is going to be some stuff getting done on the house. Any advice from people would be great. Right now it's painting the house and the rest is between fixing the garage, putting in new windows, redoing the kitchen, redoing the bathroom, putting in a patio, fixing the back porch on the second floor, or putting in new sofet and fascia. Of course we may be able to do a few of these depending on how far we can stretch our money. Any advice please let me know.

Crazy Times!

There's been a ton going on here in the past couple of weeks. School is back in full swing for me. Both boys are growing like weeds. Rowan gets his 9 month pics taken today so I should have some new pics to post here very soon.

Wine making is coming along quite well. I have 60 more bottles to do from the kit wines this month, that will probably be done tomorrow. After that I can start another 3 batches to be done at the first part of April. The really good stuff will be done at the end of this month. Not only is that going to be a sloppy drinking day, but I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of people here helping out as we have around 200 bottles to do that day. Can't wait.

A Great Thanksgiving Weekend!

This week was a crazy week with a lot going on. Wednesday Carrie and Carrissa came to visit and we hung out and had some adult beverages. On Thursday Rachel, Aiden, Rowan, and I drove to Bloomington, IL to spend time with Rachel's side of the family for Thankgiving. To make the day even better, Dallas won and took control of the NFC East. We drove back Thursday night and on Friday we had a suprise party for my Grandpa Breon and his 75th birthday. All the family was together and a good time was had by all.

On Saturday we celebrated Dad and Kathy's 25th wedding anniversary. They didn't know we were going to do it but we went to Mazzio's that night for dinner, a place we use to go when we were kids. When we got back to their house we had a mock wedding cake that looked like their real wedding cake along with a scrap book we had all made.

Kate was back for all of this and we got to spend time with her and Bryson. It was a really good time and can't wait to see them again.

A Busy Time

It has been a long time since I posted anything here. Truth be told it's because I got a new computer and forgot to add this site as a favorite to remind me to update it. Since I last wrote there have been a few changes around the Benda household. Rowan James was born on June 9, 2009. He is now 4 months old and is crazy as ever. We are all excited as Aunt Kate and cousin Bryson will be gracing us with their presence in November.
The wine is going great and just this past Thursday we bottled 90 bottles of wine. I've ordered 3 more batches of wine and they should be going and complete at the begining or mid December.
The prison is talking about possibly laying off some workers and unfortunately they are talking about laying me off. This isn't for sure obviously as the jury is still out on how many they are going to lay off so keep your fingers crossed. I will try to keep up with this page a little better now that I have remembered it's here.

A little update.

We decided to get some pictures taken of Rachel, Aiden and I along with Rachel's belly. I really hate getting my picture taken but I'm sure I'm really going to appreciate the fact that it was done down the road. The photo's were taken by a girl I went to school with, her name is now Amy Poe. You can find her on facebook under poetography. I have added a few of the pictures she did so you can see what kind of a job she does.

We have been told to basically expect the baby any day now. However, if Rachel hasn't given birth by the 8th of June, the doctor is going to induce her. She is pretty miserable right about now and we are both ready for the new Baby Benda to get here.
